Robert E. Miller MD MS (HYG) FAAP
Dr. Robert Miller started his pediatric practice in Waldorf, Maryland, more than 30 years ago. He expanded his practice by opening a second location in Leonardtown, Maryland, ten years later. Prior to opening his private practice, Dr. Miller served as Director of Pediatric Outpatient Services at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore for five years.
After completing medical school at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Dr. Miller began his training as an intern at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He completed his residency there as chief resident. Subsequently, he continued subspecialty training at the University of Pittsburgh Children's Hospital in ambulatory and community pediatrics where he also obtained his Master of Public Health.
His hospital affiliations include the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center and MedStar St. Mary's Hospital. He is board certified as a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics™.
The Miller family takes pride and enjoys living in Southern Maryland for as many years as Dr. Miller has practiced.
Crystal M Brown MD FAAP
Dr. Crystal Brown began her education at the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1998. She graduated Cum Laude in May of 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology. Dr. Brown continued to medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine where she graduated as a Doctor of Medicine in May of 2006.
After completing medical school, Dr. Brown began her training as an intern at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, Maryland. She completed her training there as the Categorical Pediatric Resident in June of 2009. Dr. Brown joined our practice in July of 2009.
Her hospital affiliations include the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center and MedStar St. Mary's Hospital. She is a native of Southern Maryland and enjoys living in the community where she serves.
Dena Pearce-Cox, MSN, CPNP-PC
Dena Pearce-Cox, MSN, CPNP-PC began her career as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida when she graduated from Polk Community College with her Associate Degree in Nursing in December of 1997. She worked as a registered nurse from 1997 to 2006 solely in the pediatric field, with the majority of her time in the neonatal intensive care unit. In 2006, she returned to academia to seek her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. During her undergraduate program she was inducted into the Sigma Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and graduated in December of 2008 with high honors.
Dena began graduate school at The University of South Florida in Tampa, FL in 2010. She attained her Master of Science degree in Pediatrics in May of 2012. She has been a Board-Certified pediatric nurse practitioner with the PNCB organization since October of 2012. Dena spent the next six years providing medical care to infants, children and adolescents at Pediatric Associates of Lakeland, Inc. under the training and collaborative practice of her mentor Dr. Rachel Ray. During those six years, she also taught at Florida Southern College in an adjunct professor capacity for 2 years.
Dena moved to Southern Maryland in November of 2018 to begin her practice at Dr Robert E. Miller, MD, FAAP, PA. Dena’s life passion and joy are children, whether it be her patients, three grown children or 4 grandchildren. She enjoys spending her leisure time with her husband Kyle and her new church community at New Life in La Plata.
Taylor Swart MS, RN, CPNP
Taylor Swart was born and raised in Northern Virginia. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Virginia in 2012, after which she taught high school Chemistry at a boarding school in West Virginia for three years, living on campus in the girls’ dormitory, serving as the dorm mother, and coaching the swim team. She then moved to Columbus, OH and received her Master of Science in Nursing from the Ohio State University, after having completed her clinical training at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where she also worked full time as a Registered Nurse. She is a board certified primary care pediatric nurse practitioner.
Her passion is in adolescent medicine, in health promotion and disease prevention, and in working to keep children and their families happy, healthy, and safe.
She enjoys doing Crossfit and spending time with her family, her boyfriend, and her two fur babies, Bert and Ernie.
